A local developer named Scott is getting ready to move to Albuquerque to open a new software design and development company called Zingerman, but he’s got a big problem: He’s still trying to figure out where to put all his coding skills.
Scott has spent the last year or so getting ready for his new gig, but it’s taking longer than expected.
He’s having trouble with his resume, he said.
It’s become more difficult to convince prospective employers that he’s up to the task of building a company.
He also’s having a tough time getting the word out.
“I’ve been working really hard, but I’m still getting questions from prospective employers and the press,” he said, adding that he and his co-founders haven’t received much of an offer for the company.
“It’s just been frustrating.”
For Scott, this isn’t a big deal.
“This is an opportunity I can’t miss,” he says.
He hasn’t been able to get the word about Zingermitts job openings out there yet.
So, in an effort to raise the visibility of Zingertermans hiring, the Albuquerque Startup Network (ASN) has started a new initiative to get more people working in the industry.
In August, the ASN announced the launch of the Albuquerque Jobs for All initiative, which aims to fill some of the openings in the local job market.
The initiative has two parts: First, the initiative has launched a job portal that helps people find work in Albuquerque and to find out more about opportunities in the city.
Second, it has created a “digital team” that provides jobs and job opportunities to the community, using its digital platform to connect individuals with employers.
“In the past, people didn’t even know that there was a need to be in the design industry,” said Jason Ochoa, a member of ASN’s executive team and one of the initiative’s organizers.
“We want to bring the local design industry into the 21st century and get people into the software industry,” he added.
“People need to know that if they want to be a designer in Albuquerque, they need to get out there and do it.”
The initiative, ASN President and CEO Jim McNeil told Wired, was started because of the high unemployment rate in the metro area.
The current unemployment rate of 8.5 percent in the metropolitan area is among the highest in the country.
The region is also the epicenter of a growing cluster of cities that are growing in their technology industries.
That cluster includes New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.
“The job market in Albuquerque is extremely volatile,” McNeil said.
“You don’t see a lot of good job opportunities.
In fact, the last time I looked, there were about 10 openings for every job.
So we want to change that.”
He added that the ASG’s job portal, which will remain open for the next few weeks, is a good place to start.
The portal, called the Albuquerque Digital Teams, will allow people to post their resumes, get hired, and learn about job opportunities in Albuquerque.
For example, if you have a resume with a picture of a coffee shop, a job listing, and a job title, you can easily find out what a job in the coffee shop looks like.
But it also allows people to create a CV and upload it to the portal, so they can get job offers directly from the employer.
And if you’re an applicant who wants to apply for a new position, you’ll get a link to a page where you can upload your resume and upload a CV.
“If you have an interesting CV, you’re going to get an email from the company, and you can apply directly,” McNeill said.
The first batch of the portal’s applicants will receive a list of job openings within the next six weeks, followed by a monthly list of more than 100.
If you’re not one of those 100 applicants, you won’t be contacted.
McNeil added that ASN has been in contact with a number of employers in the region, and is hopeful that the job openings will lead to more openings for those who have been overlooked.
“What we’re seeing is a significant amount of people are actively looking for work,” he told Wired.
“So this is a huge opportunity.”
ASN, McNeil noted, is also working on a similar initiative in Albuquerque called the Digital Team Initiative.
That initiative is focused on building the technology skills of people in the tech sector, and helping them land more jobs.
The program will also help people in tech communities who are still struggling to find work find a way to help others in need.
“When I was in college, there was this disconnect,” McEnough said.
